Portland Shopping Guide: Folly

Portland Shopping Guide: Folly

One of the sweetest things about being on Fremont Street is the neighbors. Not just friendly-wave-from-the-sidewalk neighbors (though we have those too), but wildly talented ones—like Sarah Bibb, the designer and owner of Folly, who has been making her clothing line right in her shop for over 17 years.

How cool is that?

Folly is the kind of boutique that you wander into and instantly feel good. In large part because Sarah always pops out of the back and says hi to when you walk in the door. She goes to LA a few times a year to source fabrics and comes back with lots of fun patterns that that she uses to make her signature flattering, wearable, and fun clothes.

A few days ago, our owner Willi wandered down the street and tried on a few of Sarah’s summer designs. She came back to Perch and did a little fashion show (yes, there was twirling involved), and we thought it would be fun to share a few favorites here.

The Tate Dress in Blue Osaka
The indigo print is gorgeous, and the shape makes it easy to wear with dressy pumps or more casual sandals (and the skirt looks pretty on the Lawson sofa!).

The Zona Dress in Sky
Soft, dreamy blue with a relaxed fit that still feels polished (not unlike like our Charlie sofa). The kind of piece you can wear to work or to walk the dog and still look like you have it together.

The Lang Top in Melrose Dot
A playful twist on a classic blouse. It’s got personality and versatility--Willi liked it with jeans (and the Sterling Sofa) but then Sarah suggested also trying it with a polka dot suit (which is a combo of the Miles Pant and Patricia Blazer)! So cute, especially on our new updated Taylor Sofa!

The Daisy Dress in Tuscan Stripe
This one is a warm-weather classic. The fabric feels light and swishy, the stripes are cheerful but grown-up, and the cut is perfect for everything from farmer’s markets to date nights. It also looks quite cute on our Hoyt Sectional

We love that Sarah designs for real people—her clothes are beautiful, but they’re also meant to be super comfortable and wearable! And getting to walk a few blocks down to find them? That’s the magic of our little stretch of Fremont.

If you haven’t stopped by Folly, you’re in for a treat. Go say hi to Sarah and try on a few things. You’ll walk out feeling like your best summer self.
